Matthew Breen, Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate, married his partner Andreas in West Hollywood, on Sunday. The couple exchanged vows in front of seventy of their closest family and friends in a private rooftop ceremony at Andaz West Hollywood.

Matthew and Andreas, a bi-national couple, chose the modern boutique hotel for their wedding venue after learning Michael Torsiello and Adrian Pellereau’s story. Torsiello and Pellereau, also a bi-national couple, celebrated two weddings at the Andaz – a commitment ceremony in 2012, before gay marriage was legal in California; and again in 2013 immediately after DOMA and Prop 8 were found unconstitutional by the United States Supreme Court.

Matthew Breen stated, "The issue of bi-national immigration for same-sex couples has been something I've been following, professionally, for years. It's been gut wrenching to see couples separated from one another by unequal application of federal law. Now it's personal too. I'm in a bi-national relationship, so that fact that we'll have the same rights as all other married couples means the world to us. It literally means we can be together without fear of being separated."

Matthew and Andreas’ ceremony commenced at twilight atop the Sunset Strip high-rise; an iconic art deco tower, the glittery lights of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Hills served as backdrop. Androgynous personality, Billy Francesca and a continuous-flow of Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial perpetuated smiles and laughter throughout the evening.

Lin Schatz, General Manager of Andaz West Hollywood stated “A person’s wedding day is significant moment in their lives, one that will always remain vivid; I speak from experience, my partner and I tied the knot in August. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to these milestones, especially for couples who have an added layer of appreciation now that, after hard work by brave folks, we can.”

Andaz is Hyatt Hotels’ progressive, lifestyle brand; the West Hollywood hotel previously known for its rock & roll headlines has more recently garnered attention for its contributions to the LGBT community. On the heels of the Breen-Gassler wedding, lesbian filmmaker Nicole Conn will shoot a Marriage Equality public service announcement at Andaz West Hollywood, for MEUSA.
